Oswestry Town Council is offering young people aged 11 to 17 the opportunity to apply for grants of up to £1,000 to fund projects and activities in the town centre. The funding aims to support ideas that benefit young people, particularly those related to health, wellbeing, mental health, and the environment.

Applications are open for funding for young people aged 11 to 17 years in Oswestry to spend on ideas for projects and activities in the town centre area that will make a difference to local young people. Oswestry Town Council has allocated £1,000 to Oswestry Youth Forum to distribute this small grant programme. Oswestry Youth Forum is particularly interested in ideas for projects or activities linked to young people’s health, wellbeing and mental health, and the environment.

However, all bright ideas aimed at improving outcomes for young people will be welcomed. The Mayor of Oswestry Councillor Mike Isherwood said: “We are committed to work with young people to deliver youth services in the town and to champion youth work. This funding is one of the ways we are doing that. “It is specifically to support young people get their ideas into reality. So, whatever your idea, Oswestry Youth Forum would love to hear from you.” Funding of up to £1,000 is available from the ‘Make a Change, Make a Difference’ grant scheme, and applicants can apply for funding from £50 to £1,000. As funding cannot be given to an individual, young people will need to submit their ideas with support from a sponsoring organisation with a bank account e.g. a school, college, community group, youth club, sports club etc. Application forms are available to download via the Council’s website (search grant applications) or email Corrie Davies at [email protected] or Amanda Hollinshead at [email protected]. Please return completed applications via email to Corrie or Amanda or post to: Corrie Davies, Oswestry Town Council, The Guildhall, Oswestry, Shropshire SY11 1PZ. Oswestry Youth Forum will consider each application at its meeting on 19 February before deciding which ideas to support. Grants will then be awarded
