'I had to be cut from the wreckage'
A Northern Ireland woman who was seriously injured after a crash has opened up about her support for the Air Ambulance NI.
"I was trapped in the car and I couldn't see, as I had glass in my eyes. I had to be cut from the wreckage, but the firemen and ambulance crew were so reassuring and put me at ease a little. "I am now a volunteer for Air Ambulance NI and encourage anyone to support, in any way. Without the Air Ambulance, I would not be here today and am forever grateful for everything they have done."
Grace Williams, area fundraising manager for Air Ambulance, emphasised the significance of the 1,000 runners taking part for the charity and their collective endeavour, aiming to cover over 9,000 miles to support the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service. Air Ambulance Northern Ireland needs to raise £2.5m per year to continue providing the HEMS in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service seven days a week for twelve hours a day.
