Iona Scott and Rowan Muirhead were chosen to complete the course this year
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award is a scheme which offers groups of teenagers challenges that help them to face their fears, be they fear of heights, fear of being on and in the water, or simply being outdoors in the cold and wet.
Throughout this one week long residential programme, the young people learn the value of being part of a team as well as taking a turn to act as a team leader. In the district of Southern Scotland, RYLA takes place at Barcaple Activity Centre just outside Kirkcudbright. Despite their admitted doubts both candidates completed the course and both enjoyed a great week making many new friends along the way.
