YouTube clampdown on Tommy Robinson as they stop him from live-streaming – but don’t ban him
YOUTUBE have clamped down on far-right activist Tommy Robinson and stopped him live-streaming - but have not banned him outright.
The restrictions will mean Robinson's new videos won't have view counts, suggested videos, likes or comments.The video platform is removing the far-right activist's videos from search results and stopping him live-streamingThere will also be an "interstitial" or black slate that appears before each video warning people that it might not be appropriate for all audiences.
Robinson will also be prevented from live-streaming onto his channel, where he has nearly 390,000 YouTube subscribers.- arguing that it was fundamentally different from the posts that led Facebook and Instagram to delete his account.The founder of the English Defence League was booted from the social media sites for "repeatedly" breaking their standards on "organised hate".
Facebook confirmed Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, had violated their standards on supporting or appearing to support organised hate groups on his page where he had amassed more than one million followers. The social media giant said Robinson's page had "repeatedly broken these standards, posting material that uses dehumanising language and calls for violence targeted at Muslims".
