Zara and Sam first started dating in 2019
Zara McDermott insists her boyfriend Sam Thompson isn't worried about the so-called "Strictly curse".
The Love Island star is set to appear on the 21st series of the much-loved TV show Strictly Come Dancing which begins this Saturday. She suggested her Made in Chelsea boyfriend isn't nervous about her doing the BBC dancing show this year, despite their rocky past. The pair briefly split in 2020 after Zara confessed to cheating on Sam during a stint on X Factor: Celebrity. Strictly fans are all too familiar with the notorious Strictly curse which has seen celebs fall for their dance partners.The Daily Star asked Zara if Sam was nervous about the Strictly curse, she said: "No, no, not at all. I think everyone on the show who has got a partner is super supportive and everyone's going to be in the audience.
Zara is the first Love Island star to dance under Strictly's glitter ball. She told the Daily Star: “It was definitely an incredible feeling. I know I am the first Love Island contestant to do it, but I don't think there was ever specifically a ban for it. "I think maybe the show wanted someone who had ventured out of that box, really. I'm really proud of my background and where I've come from because I've grown so much and done so much, so it does feel absolutely incredible but at the same time but I don't see myself as that much of a reality person now with the work that I do."
