Zheming Zhang was granted conditional bail in the ACT Magistrates Court after his arrest last week.
22-year-old Zheming Zhang has been granted conditional bail after pleading not guilty to virtual kidnapping charges in the ACT Magistrates Court.
She was allegedly told her account would be restricted due to suspected scam activity from her number. According to court documents, while still in the hotel room the victim made bank transfers totalling about $400,000 to overseas accounts in what she believed to be bail payments. In the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday he appeared via video link and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
She told the court she believed the network was "sophisticated", involving multiple victims and "exorbitant" amounts of money — presuming that he has access and money through an international scam syndicate."These victims were vulnerable, and some did not report to police," Ms Muthurajah said.
