TV veteran Johnny Ball once opened up about how his family supports BBC Radio 2 DJ Zoe Ball - who has been mysteriously missing from her breakfast show in recent weeks
Zoe Ball 's father opened up about how the family supported her through the devastating loss of her boyfriend, Billy Yates, who tragically took his own life. Back in 2017, Johnny Ball, 86, disclosed their approach to keeping Zoe's spirits high despite the distance between them.
Zoe's boyfriend, BBC cameraman Billy, was found hanged in May 2017 after struggling with depression. He had reportedly also fallen victim 'to a fraudster'. After parting ways in 2016 with her husband, Norman Cook, Zoe found love again with Billy. Earlier in the year, Zoe had paused her broadcast work for some personal time following the heartbreaking loss of her mother in April due to cancer and a round of emergency dental surgery.
Johnny remarked on the past: "She coped terribly and we lost her because she was totally besotted by it. She was clubbing all the time and drinking too much. She became a ladette, saying anything the boys could do, girls could do."Despite the tumultuous periods, Johnny affirmed: "We've never fallen out, but there are periods you know you're not in the equation when it comes to discussion.
