A Facebook event that called for people to arm themselves to ‘defend’ Kenosha was not removed by the site’s moderators until after twoCEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted it was a mistake not to take down the event set up by the ‘Kenosha Guard’ page sooner but has not apologised for the error.
Mr Zuckerberg said Facebook has removed the page of the alleged shooter, although it wasn’t found to contain any links to what happened. The policy was designed to prevent groups from organising ‘significant civil unrest’ in the run up to the American election in November, Mr Zuckerberg said.
