A desperate mother has appealed for information as police continue to search for her son who went missing after a car crash on the A7 in Scotland. Shane Donnelly/Barr is believed to have been involved in the collision near the Lindean junction, north of Selkirk, on Tuesday evening. An injured woman was found at the scene, but Shane has not been seen since. Police are urging anyone who may have seen Shane or who has any information to come forward.
A new image has been released as the search for a missing 'injured' driver involved in a crash on the A7 enters its fifth day. Shane Donnelly/Barr is believed to be the driver of one of the cars involved in a crash on the major Scots road, near the Lindean junction, north of Selkirk, around 7.10pm on Tuesday, January 14. When emergency services arrived, a woman was found injured but Shane was not at the scene.
Despite extensive searches and enquiries, and a previous appeal, he has not been seen since. The injured woman was rushed to Borders General Hospital via ambulance, where her current condition is unknown. Extensive searches have taken place to trace Shane, from Galashiels, with help from specialist search advisors as well as police dogs and a helicopter. Shane is described as 6ft tall, with brown hair and facial hair, and has blue eyes. It is not known what he may be wearing. Police have asked the public to check their sheds or outbuildings in case Shane took shelter. His heartbroken mum Maggie Barr has said she is 'worried sick' for her son. In a post on Facebook, she said: 'If anyone sees or hears from my son please get in touch, he was in a car crash on Tuesday night and missing from then. Shane Donnelly if you see this please son get in touch am worried sick son love.' Inspector Colin Deans said: “Searches led by specialist search advisors are ongoing to trace him. Local officers have been assisted by resources including police dogs and the helicopter. “Shane may have been injured in the crash so we remain concerned for his welfare. We want to trace him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well. “He has links throughout the Scottish Borders and we are carrying out enquiries in a number of areas. He may have taken shelter and we ask anyone with sheds or outbuildings to please check them. “We urge anyone who has seen Shane or has any information that may assist our enquiries to contact us as soon as possible through 101, quoting incident number 3784 of 14 January, 2025. “I would also reappeal to Shane directly, if he sees this appeal, to please let us know you are safe and well.
