A guide to check-in procedures and boarding pass requirements for major UK airlines – Jet2, TUI, Ryanair, and easyJet – to help travellers avoid fees and delays during the summer holiday season.

Summer holidays are fast approaching and UK families are preparing for their getaways, but airline check-in rules can cause stress for travellers. Each airline has different check-in procedures and boarding pass requirements that holidaymakers must follow to avoid costly fees and delays.

Jet2 allows online check-in from 28 days to six hours before departure, with passengers able to use 'Manage My Booking' on computers, tablets or smartphones. The airline advises passengers with checked baggage must arrive 'no later than the minimum check-in time shown on your itinerary or at least 2 hours before your departure time, whichever is the earlier'. TUI passengers can check in 48 hours ahead of departure, or 24 hours for Mexico and Jamaica flights.

Premium seat holders get early access 14 days before departure, with the airline stating: 'In either case, you'll need to check in for your outbound and inbound flights separately.

' Ryanair requires online check-in and smartphone boarding passes, with check-in available 60 days early for paid seats or 24 hours for free seats. Failure to check in online results in a hefty £55 airport fee, though the airline provides free replacement passes for lost devices, or those with a dead battery - as well as for people who do not own a smartphone or tablet, provided they checked in online before setting off to the airport. easyJet allows check-in from 30 days to two hours before departure, urging customers to 'please check in online'.

The airline warns against PDF scans, stating: 'You cannot use a PDF scan of your boarding pass on your mobile device as the airport security team will be unable to scan them.

' All airlines recommend arriving at the airport with sufficient time for security and boarding procedures. READ THE FULL STORY: Latest boarding pass rules for Jet2, Ryanair, TUI and easyJet
