A Jet2 flight bound for Tenerife was forced to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport in the United Kingdom due to a cracked windshield . Flight tracking services indicated that flight LS633 diverted to Manchester shortly after takeoff from East Midlands Airport. The original flight was scheduled to be two and a half hours long. According to Flight Aware, passengers had to disembark the aircraft in Manchester instead of reaching their destination in the Canary Islands around 11.
30 am on Thursday morning. This incident follows a similar event in December of the previous year when graphic images surfaced of a cracked plane cockpit windshield after the aircraft was struck by lightning. A passenger on flight LM26, which was traveling from Manchester Airport to Aberdeen, reported experiencing the incident. She stated she was asleep when the pilots initiated the emergency code 7700, signaling a return to Manchester. The Loganair plane returned to Manchester approximately 29 minutes after takeoff. Morag McLeod, the passenger, shared her account with The Mirror, mentioning her journey with her partner from Houston, Texas, and their arrival in Manchester around 9.30 am. They were required to wait several hours for their connecting flight, which they eventually boarded in the afternoon. Morag recounted that she was asleep when the plane was struck by lightning and initially mistook the impact for turbulence. However, her partner, who has some knowledge of aviation, woke her up after witnessing what appeared to be lightning. Before the captain announced the strike, her partner had alerted her. She described the experience, saying, 'I was actually sleeping as we were a connecting flight from Houston. We arrived in Manchester airport at 9.30am and had to wait several hours for our connecting flight. I felt what I thought was turbulence, however my partner knows a bit about aviation and he had seen what looked like lightning and he awoke me just prior to the captain announcing that the aircraft had been struck. My partner knew something wasn't right as the aircraft stopped ascending and began circling in the air which he believes was the aircraft circling Manchester airport awaiting clearance to emergency land.'As passengers were being escorted off the plane, Morag captured a photo of the cockpit, showcasing the cracked windshield while the aircraft was parked at Manchester Airport
