Staff were informed of the closure via text message on Friday citing 'a reduction in trade and business against the huge increases in costs'. George's in Worsley, the restaurant co-owned by Manchester United star Ryan Giggs, has issued an update to customers after its sudden closure at the weekend.
It went on to say: "This is due to the obvious reduction in trade and business against the huge increases in costs of operating the business and the ongoing cost of living crisis". Bosses have issued no further information about the closure, or what will be happening next at the restaurant site. Rumours have been swirling for weeks that it is to be taken over by another restaurant group operating in the Salford area.
"We're all local lads and have lived in this area all our lives so we wanted to do something in Worsley and we think we've got a really different offering for the area."
