21stone mum loses half her body weight by ditching fat jabs

Hannah, 36, tried weight loss jabs but they didn't work for her - so she found another way

A 21st mum so big she was forced to take painkillers to get through a Disneyland trip almost halved her bodyweight - by ditching skinny jabs for an old-school method.

Hannah Baldwin said she piled on the pounds due to being a 'big snacker', gorging on takeaways and sweet treats every night that left her with excruciating hip and back pain. The mum-of-seven, whose waistline ballooned to a size 28 with her tipping the scales at 21st 4lbs, even admitted hiding biscuits behind cushions on the sofa so her kids wouldn't eat them.

It was during a trip to Disneyland in September 2024, where the 36-year-old was forced to rely on strong painkillers to walk around, that prompted her weight loss journey. The full-time mum tried skinny jabs for two months but found them expensive and painful so ditched them for a calorie-counting method she discovered on TikTok in December 2024.

Now, instead of eating up to 6,000 calories a day, 5ft 4in Hannah eats around 1,900 calories per day including home-cooked meals and swaps biscuits and crisps for fruit. Since starting her weight loss journey 16 months ago, Hannah has dropped almost 10st, and is now 11st 6lbs and a size 14. Now, Hannah has set up a fundraiser for a tummy tuck and lift to banish her loose skin. Hannah, from Swindon, Wiltshire, said: "I was a big snacker.

"I would demolish a whole pack of Maryland cookies or chocolate digestives and a whole can of Pringles and then I would happily order a takeaway. I would hide the biscuits behind the cushions on the sofa so they wouldn't see them then make a coffee and finish them off. Cookies and crisps were my downfall.

"We went on holiday to France in September 2024. I was in so much pain with my hip and my back that I was taking codeine just to be able to walk around Disneyland. We got back from that holiday and I saw photos of myself on the beach.

"I couldn't enjoy my holiday, my children were missing out, I looked horrendous and I just thought 'no, I've got to change my life'. In a desperate bid to shed the weight, Hannah tried a two-month course of skinny jabs, but soon ditched them due to financial and health issues.

" Hannah said: "I tried them when I first started but they gave me the most awful belly and rib pain to the point I was in Asda and couldn't walk. They're so expensive and I couldn't afford them. I saw on TikTok people calorie counting to lose weight and I thought 'you know what I can do that. I've tried everything else, let me give this a go' and I've not looked back.

"I've changed my entire life completely. It sounds so silly but just going to parents' evening and being able to sit on the chairs, going out for walks with the kids and being able to catch up with them and not being out of breath .

" Since losing the weight, Hannah has been left with loose skin, particularly on her belly that 'claps' when she runs, so is raising cash for a tummy tuck and lift. Hannah said: "Hannah said: "I have a lot of loose skin everywhere but it's my belly that bothers me. I now run and I'm quite active but now it's getting warmer. If I want to exercise I have to wear compression garments.

"I've got loose skin everywhere but I would just be happy if I didn't have a belly that claps me along. It's unachievable in the UK so I'm looking at going to Turkey and I've been quoted just shy of £7,000 for the tummy tuck and the mons lift.

"Fat stores where it wants to store, you don't get a choice. It's not something that looks nice so it's vanity, I'm not going to lie, but it's also health wise because it is really sore and not nice to live with. When I look down all I can see is my belly so to me I still feel like that 21 stone girl even though I know that I'm not.
