Child rushed to hospital after incident at Hyde Leisure Pool

A youngster was taken to hospital following an emergency at Hyde Leisure Pool on Sunday. Emergency services responded after reports of a child in difficulty in the water. Witnesses say staff performed CPR before paramedics arrived. The child was conscious when transported to Tameside General Hospital for further assessment.

A youngster has been rushed to hospital following an emergency at a swimming pool in Hyde this afternoon. The incident occurred at Hyde Leisure Pool on Walker Lane on Sunday .

The Manchester Evening News understands that emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene after reports emerged that a child had encountered difficulties in the water. Eyewitnesses reported that the pool was cleared as paramedics hurried to assist. One individual informed the M.E. N. that they observed leisure centre staff performing CPR prior to the arrival of ambulance crews, reports the Manchester Evening News.

It is understood that the child was conscious upon being transported to hospital for additional assessment after being retrieved from the water. A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: "We received a call for a child in cardiac arrest at Active Hyde and several NWAS resources were dispatched to the scene, in which a patient was then taken to Tameside General Hospital.

" Active Tameside, which runs the leisure facility, has also been approached for comment.
