Cambuslang Rangers manager Paul McColl criticizes his team's performance after a 4-2 loss to Lanark United, highlighting a red card and defensive errors as key factors in their defeat. The team now faces a challenging period with McColl serving a suspension.
Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl has warned his struggling stars they have been given too many chances after slumping to a 4-2 defeat at Lanark United on Saturday. McColl reckons his side were on a hiding to nothing at Moor Park as Jay Taylor was shown a straight red card for a crude tackle just two minutes in, but says four errors again cost his side.
That leaves Cambuslang 12th in the table after two defeats in a row, and with McColl sitting out the second of a three-match dug-out ban when they host Bonnyton Thistle on January 11, having been sent off against Muirkirk on September 28. McColl said: “I had picked up a wee three-match suspension for my sending off against Muirkirk. I will say no more. “We got a man sent off after two minutes on Saturday, so that didn’t help matters. “I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t a great tackle. Was it a leg-breaking tackle? No, it was misjudged, wasn’t great, but the ref has given him a straight red. “Maybe an experienced ref would have given him a yellow, but to send a guy off after two or three minutes, when the guy got up fairly quickly, seemed harsh. “It wasn’t the smartest tackle, but it wasn’t the worst I’ve seen, and I’m not sure it merited a straight red. “He didn’t go out to ‘do’ the boy, he just caught him, and it looked worse than it was, but that cost us. “You’re playing the whole game with 10 men, and that is just our luck just now. I think we would have done a lot better with 11. “Lanark are a decent team, they’re third in the league, and it’s hard against any side when you’re a man down, so we were up against it straight away. “But we’ve lost a few daft goals again. Their guy has lobbed the goalie from 40 yards, which isn’t great to watch. “We got back into it, but lost another daft goal when one of our boys gave the ball away and they went and scored from it agai
