Staff will lose their jobs and 32 elderly residents will need to move after it was announced that Bury care homes Elizabeth House and Moorfields would be shutting
Shocked residents at two care homes, some of whom are more than 100-years-old, have been told to find alternative accommodation before the end of the month after a sudden decision to close them. Staff at the homes say elderly residents will have their ‘lives will be turned upside down’ by the unexpected move.
Bury Council said they were ‘shocked’ to be informed of the decision and said the move had ’caused families a great deal of concern’. They said they were working with the families and care providers across the borough of to find alternative accommodation for all the residents. “We can’t let these homes close and we desperately need your help to help save our homes, we have 32 vulnerable adults who are happy and settled here. We have some residents over 100 years old whose lives will be turned upside down by this move.
