Plans for a 44-storey apartment block with 364 flats on Whitworth Street West in Manchester have been submitted for planning permission. Developers Glenbrook aim to 'push the boundaries of city centre living' with the project. Meanwhile, a neighboring 'skinny skyscraper' project called Vision Manchester has hit trouble and its developer entered administration last year. The land has been sold to a new developer who intends to explore an alternative proposal for the site.

A skyscraper touted to ‘push the boundaries of city centre living’ has moved a step closer to becoming reality, but plans next door appear to be dead in the water.

Developers Glenbrook say arches on street level will house residents’ communal amenity facilities, in an effort to ‘push the boundaries of city centre living’. “We believe this development and its exceptional location offer the opportunity to push the boundaries of city-centre living, and we’re hugely excited about the prospect of bringing such a prestigious building to market.”

Companies House documents show its developer, a special-purpose vehicle called Vision Manchester Ltd, entered administration last June. The land has been sold to a new developer called Atri7 6 Limited Ltd, which ‘intends to explore an alternative proposal for the site’ according to a new application to Manchester city council to ‘discharge’ the landowners of an obligation to submit building proposals by November 2024, before construction starts.
