Supporters have called on Leeds United to beef up their forward line next month
Leeds United have been urged to strengthen their forward line in the January transfer window. No team has scored more goals than the Whites in the Championship this season.
But there remain concerns over United's attacking firepower going into the second half of the campaign. Dutch striker Joel Piroe is currently their top-scorer with seven goals. Mateo Joseph led the line in the midweek win over Middlesbrough. He was easily shackled by the Boro defence as his goal drought continues. The Spanish Under-21 international has only found the back of the net on two occasions, despite making 10 starts and 10 substitute appearances. Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, Farke's other central attacking options, have found game time hard to come by and have yet to get off the mark.
LeedsLive recently conducted a transfer poll. Nearly 1,500 Whites fans took part as we asked how many signings the West Yorkshire club need to make next month. Fifty four per cent went with two recruits and 24 per cent voted three. Twelve per cent said one addition, six per cent selected four and four per cent opted for zero. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that United look to sign a recognised attacking midfielder to compete with Brenden Aaronson in the No 10 position.
We also asked which position United should prioritise in the transfer market. A whopping 74 per cent of respondents selected attack. Eleven per cent voted midfield and 10 per cent went with the defence. Only five per cent said the goalkeeping department.
