A 7-year-old boy from Cuyahoga County died early Friday in a hotel room near Canton, published reports say.

Stark County sheriff’s deputies went to the Knights Inn in the 3900 block of Convenience Circle in Plain Township, where they found the boy died of a gun shot, according to WKYC in Cleveland. The boy’s identity has not been released. The Canton Repository reported that the boy lived in Cuyahoga County. WKYC reported that a warrant has been issued for William Brent Dolch, 37, of Akron on weapons charges. Dolch is the boy’s father, according to published reports.
A document filed in Canton Municipal Court shows that Dolch had the firearm “while living at the Knights Inn.” The document alleges that the firearm was discharged, “striking a 7-year-old child resulting in the child’s death.”Dolch has prior theft convictions in Cuyahoga and Summit counties, according to court records.
