More intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are predicted in Pakistan till July 01. The Pakistan Meteorological Department says that moist air currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are entering most parts of Pakistan and will become stronger in the upper areas tonight.
A westerly wave will also reach the upper parts of the country tonight. Because of these weather conditions, the monsoon rains that started on June 25 will keep falling off and on until July 1. There will be widespread monsoon rains and windstorms with some heavy showers in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until July 1, with breaks in between. Rains and gusty winds are also expected in some parts of northeast and south Balochistan, central and south Punjab, and southeastern and lower Sindh during this period.Karachi: Karachi is expected to experience partly cloudy weather today, with the...Heavy to very heavy rains could cause flash floods in local streams and nullahs in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Downpours may also cause flash floods in streams and hill torrents in Musakhel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Lasbella, and Kalat. Windstorms and lightning could disturb daily life and may damage weak structures like old houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels during this time. Landslides could block roads in the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, and Kashmir while this wet spell continues.
