The 100-year-old family sauce taking the nation - and Channel 5 - by storm
A businessman was thrilled after seeing a special handmade sauce that has been in his family for more than 100 years featured on a popular television programme.
"The response from customers has been great. I always ask them what they put the sauce on and the answer I always get is one word, ‘everything’.” Ken and Kathleen’s son, David found the sauce to be very popular amongst colleagues in staff canteens where he’d worked as a mechanic, foreman and eventually company director. David embarked on a complete career change in 2001 and along with his wife, Sarah opened Entwistle’s deli in Ramsbottom where they sold the sauce.
The vegan friendly and fat free sauce has a vinegar base and is mildly spiced. It enhances the flavour of any savoury dish and can be used everything from salads and cheese on toast to fish fingers and chips. Grandma Entwistle’s Lancashire Sauce was also featured on Countryfile when they were a stockist of Lakeland.
