Prison time for the President's son raises the delicious prospect of incarceration for Trump
Hunter Biden, his wife Melissa Cohen Biden, and US First Lady Jill Biden leave federal court in Wilmington, Delaware, after a jury found him guilty of criminal gun charges , the president’s hapless son, was in the dock, to be convicted about lying in order to buy a handgun.
If only Hunter had got off, Trump could have ramped up his conspiracy theories about an American justice system in thrall to the “Biden crime family”. Instead, a jury in a federal court Wilmington, Delaware, has found Honesty is overrated. Trump lies as easily as he breathes . And Republicans love guns. Hold on, though, they hate the Bidens. Surely, the corrupted, pro-Democrat justice system wouldn’t convict him? But it has.To top it off, most legal pundits think Hunter Biden will probably get a jail sentence, too.This doesn’t take away from the distress for President Biden, and the humiliation felt by his son – the first child of a sitting US president to be convicted of a crime.
Joe Biden has said he won’t pardon Hunter, so it will very difficult for the Republicans to use this against the President.for the charges against him, only for it to fall apart when the judge dismissed its leniency. But it was a Trump-appointed prosecutor who offered the deal. Trump will no doubt crow some slurred and mendacious monologues about the Bidens at this next Maga rally. But most people – including the pivotal floating voters, who don’t like him but are concerned about immigration, inflation and the cost of housing – won’t care either.
