Viewers of Channel 4's 'A Place in the Sun' were quick to call out an issue after watching the latest edition of the overseas property buying programme. One fan of the show exclaimed: "This looks like it could go very wrong, very quickly!"
On Monday, September 26, viewers followed host Scarlette Douglas to Sunny Beach, Bulgaria where she showed house hunter Kelly around five properties. Viewers soon claimed "alarm bells were ringing" after the buyer made a confession just moments into the episode. Kelly wanted a holiday home she could visit with her mum and daughter, reported Liverpool Echo. However, Kelly's mum was unable to make the trip to Bulgaria so she was joined by best friend, Angie.The buyer, from Essex, was armed with a budget of £25,000 to find the perfect one-bed apartment abroad. However, after a bombshell admission, viewers following the show on Twitter were concerned. Kelly revealed she had never previously visited the location.
Social media users exclaimed: "£25,000 budget in a place they’ve never visited and an absentee remote buyer. This is going to be epic". Another agreed: "This looks like it could go very wrong, very quickly! 25k, never been before and one of the buyers isn't there I'm here for it." The comments continued: "Never been there before...alarm bells ringing."
However, Kelly said Sunny Beach "exceeded expectations" and was wowed by the second property on the search, which was a one-bed apartment in the Vineyards Resort. The apartment was situated on the third floor of the complex and boasted fantastic panoramic views. The property was priced at £21,818 - and Kelly was thrilled to have an offer of £20,500 accepted.
