A fundraising appeal for the bronze statue, which is to be installed in Jones's hometown of Colwyn Bay, North Wales, was launched today by fellow Pythons Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam .
Comedy genius Terry Jones is set to be remembered with a £120,000 statue – which could feature the star in one of his best-known Monty Python guises… the nude organist.
After strolling along the promenade to the town's new pier, close to where the statue is set to be located, Palin said of the organist suggestion: 'So many statues are boring and serious. This would put a smile on peoples' faces.' He added: 'It was a great Terry character and would be something very much in the spirit of Terry. He wouldn't mind showing his bottom to the world. He did and it was very funny.'Terry valued his Welshness very much, it influenced a lot of his work and his determination.
