National Highways will close the QMC roundabout on the A52 for bridge repairs, causing major traffic disruption. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
Drivers using the A52 are being urged to plan ahead for a full weekend closure of a busy roundabout near Nottingham 's Queen's Medical Centre this weekend. National Highways will shut the QMC roundabout from 8pm on Friday, January 24, to 6am on Monday, January 27. A second closure is scheduled for the weekend of February 7 to 10, with a contingency date of the following weekend.
The closures are necessary to allow National Highways to remove and replace a beam in the route's bridge, which was damaged when a lorry carrying an excavator struck it in 2018. Similar to previous closures in October 2024, the following roads are expected to be closed during these periods: A National Highways spokesperson said: 'Our bridge repairs are progressing well, and we’re now preparing to remove the damaged beam and install the new one. To do this safely we need two full weekend closures.' Ahead of the closures, which are similar to those enforced in October, the body warned: “We expect these routes to be busy, so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys. The QMC bridge fix, and the closures associated with it, started in August 2024. The repairs are expected to be complete by summer 2025.
