The first of the four quarter final went the way of the home side as the Dons booked their third Hampden trip this season.
Neil Warnock claimed the biggest result of his short Pittodrie career to guide Aberdeen into the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
That dream is still a reality as he booked his first visit to Hampden. He can now look forward to seeing what Monday night’s draw will bring. Can Aberdeen land their first Scottish Cup since 1990? Warnock will now be hoping it is the spark to the Dons' season and they can also now use it to take into the Premiership.
The impressive Junior Hoilett crossed from the left and Jamie McGrath laid it back for Shinnie and his shot flew past Will Dennis with the aid of a deflection in the 33rd minute. Silver lining for Warnock? The answer to that is yes, in the context that Aberdeen are still in the hunt for the Scottish Cup final. A lot of people felt this may have been the end of the road for Warnock if he had lost this afternoon. Things haven’t got to plan for the veteran manager at Pittodrie. He is still looking for his first league win but in the Scottish Cup he is keeping himself afloat. He has now got wins over Kilmarnock and Bonnyrigg Rose.
