by SBG San Antonio | David WarnerOn Wednesday, ACS held an advisory board meeting to update the public, discussing the hunt for a new director and dangerous dog attacks.

SAN ANTONIO - Animal Care Services held an advisory board meeting on Wednesday, giving an update on the search for a new director. The City's Assistant Manager says it's up to the city manager to appoint a replacement for Shannon Sims, who's set to retire this summer. This comes amid a rise in the live release rate and a steep drop in aggressive and dangerous dog designations for the quarter.ACS director Shannon Sims says there's a reason behind these changes.

"As far as dangerous dog designations, each individual case is measured against what the state requires for dangerous dogs,” said outgoing ACS Director Shannon Sims. “So you know, all I can tell you is if we're talking about there being fewer cases that are being actually designated, it's because those cases don't meet the state's requirement for a dangerous dog.
