Hundreds of new places could be created as 'critical' situation looms
An African Caribbean Centre and a car park used by Liverpool Women’s Hospital could be moved to make way for a new school on the edge of the city centre. When it opens next year, Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy will be the city's first Muslim faith-designated school. It is thought the first intake for the school year 2026/27 could take more than 120 pupils at the facility operated by Star Academies.
” The DfE will provide funding for the construction of the school. It is expected around 600 pupils will occupy the school when full, with 50% reserved for Muslim girls. In the report, the city said officials will engage with representatives from the African Caribbean community to identify alternative provision which meets local need, either on the existing site or nearby. It will also work with the women’s hospital to locate additional parking.
