Complaint calls transfer rule ‘arbitrary’ and calls cheerleading a sanctioned sport that gets a pass.

Testimony was scheduled to continue in Montgomery Circuit Court on Thursday as attorneys for the Alabama High School Athletic Association seek to have a temporary restraining order dismissed. The order allows a student-athlete at Marbury High School to compete in varsity play despite not making what the AHSAA calls and requires a “bona fide move” into the Marbury district.

Michael L. Kidd filed the complaint that received the restraining order is representing his son, Watson Troy Kidd, who transferred from Prattville High School to Marbury and is seeking to allow him to play varsity football and baseball despite the rule that says transfers without a bona fide move are ineligible for a year. The Bulldogs are 0-4 thus far this season.
