The veteran is in a duel role at Somerset Park and is loving life in the unique system.
The former Celtic and Republic of Ireland winger was released by Hibs at the end of last season following speculation he could decide to hang up his boots. But, despite previous knee trouble and hamstring surgery, the 37-year-old is adamant he was always confident he could play on. He is now combining his on-field duties with a long list of others he has taken on at Somerset Park in his role as technical director.
“I’m helping with recruitment as well. My phone’s been going mental the last three, four days. So, I’m covering a lot of different areas, but it’s been good. I’m gaining a lot of experience and seeing things I don’t normally see as a player. McGeady, who is close to completing his A Licence, has had his eyes opened by the coaching he has done at Ayr and is considering a future in management. But, having previously thought his next step would be in a role ‘upstairs’, he is keeping his options open.
