Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has revealed he will be commemorating Anzac Day this year along the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea.

The Prime Minister will head to Papua New Guinea later this month, with Anthony Albanese revealing he will be in Isurava on the Kokoda Track for Anzac Day .

"In a fortnight, we will gather in the darkness before dawn because those first Anzacs did," the Prime Minister said in a speech at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney. "We will gather in the peace that is the gift to us from generations of Australians who have taken up arms in our name. Mr Albanese will reportedly walk part of the Kokoda Track with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape as Australia looks to strengthen diplomatic ties with its closest neighbour.Mr Albanese delivered his speech as he helped launch the song 'Almost Anzac Day' by Australian singer James Blundell.
