Around 40 jobs have been created by the new store
Shoppers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to bargain shopping when a new branch of Aldi opens its doors in Nottinghamshire - right next door to Lidl. The discount supermarkets will be going head-to-head when Aldi launches in coming weeks at Becket Way, West Bridgford, next to Lidl at Wilford Retail Park.
The new Aldi is one of 12 stores across the UK opening before the end of the year. It will open in November, although a specific date has yet to be revealed. The chain opened its 1,000th UK store in Woking last month and will be opening one new store a week on average between now and the end of 2023. The openings form part of Aldi’s long-term target of 1,500 stores in the UK – with the supermarket set to invest £1.4 billion on expanding its UK footprint over the next two years alone.
Each new store opening will create around 40 new jobs on average, boosting employment opportunities within local areas. Store assistants receive starting pay of £11.40 per hour, while it is the only supermarket to pay for breaks, which can be worth up to £972 a year.
“Shoppers know they’ll always get more for their money when they shop with us, and we’re confident Aldi’s success will continue to grow."
