Aldi UK is investing £650 million to open 30 new stores in the next year as part of a larger plan to reach 1,500 stores across the country by 2025. The supermarket chain is prioritizing areas without existing Aldi locations and is actively seeking site options.
Aldi bosses are aiming to open in new locations without a store as part of their 2025 expansion plans. The supermarket giant plans to invest around £650m across its UK store network this year. The retailer is aiming to launch around 30 new stores in total to help accelerate its presence across UK towns and cities. The company's long-term target included 1,500 new stores following a £800m investment last year.
Early 2025 will see eight new stores introduced, with approximately 40 additional outlets expected to open during the next financial year. Giles Hurley, CEO of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: 'At Aldi, our unwavering commitment has always been to provide Britain with the best value groceries.' 'The demand for our unbeatable prices is now at an all-time high. This gives us the confidence to continue investing in Britain to provide greater access to our award-winning products at the lowest prices.' 'We recognise that there are still areas without an Aldi store. Our expansion plans for 2025 are designed to address some of these gaps as we work towards our long-term goal of 1,500 UK stores.' Aldi previously confirmed Merseyside is among the areas it is focusing on with new sites planned for Formby and Toxteth . Aldi is searching for freehold town centre, edge-of-centre, and retail park sites suitable for property development. The sites should be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq foot store with around 100 parking spaces. The ideal location will be near a main road with good visibility and access.
