MANILA, Philippines — New chapter for Thea Gagate.
The La Salle six-foot-two standout is all smiles after hearing that barring no hiccups, she is the No.1 pick of the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in the first-ever Premier Volleyball League 2024 Rookie Draft. After being part of the historic bronze of the Alas Pilipinas in the AVC 2024 Challenge Cup, Gagate is off to the next chapter of her professional volleyball career. 'Of course, I'm very honored that I am their first choice, and I am grateful for it.
' The three-time UAAP best middle blocker finished its anthropometry and fitness tests where she was assessed on her endurance, standing vertical jump, standing broad jump, modified agility test, and 60m shuttle run. 'So far, so good. Actually, I was nervous and at the same time excited,' Gagate said after finishing all her drills. She also added that this is the time for her to redeem herself after missing the finals with La Salle in the last year of her collegiate career.
