17 days of celebrations will sweep Sydney from tomorrow, when rainbow coloured masses take to the streets for the WorldPride festival. AirlieWalsh 9News MORE:

Between the opening ceremony, annual Mardi Gras parade, Fair Day, Domain Dance Party, human rights conference, First Nations Gala and historic Pride march across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, you're not alone if you feel overwhelmed by what's on offer.

Labelled the "biggest event" in the WorldPride calendar, glittery spectators will watch on as 12,500 people and over 200 floats make their way The City of Sydney council, with donations from the NSW Government, will shut down portions of Crown Street and Riley Street in Surry Hills, transforming the strips into mini villages.

Entry to take part in the march is via a free ballot, which opened from on Friday, December 9 and ran until January 8.Carriageworks will "come alive" with six days worth of free exhibits and performances during Sydney WorldPride. The upstairs of a beloved community pub will transform into an immersive "museum" dedicated to ballroom culture in Australia.

Iconic queens such as the US' Laganja Estranja as well as our very own season one winner Kita Mean and season two alumni Kween Kong, drag race fans won't want to sit this one out.Traversing through years of queer history, this unique event will take guests on a bus tour of Sydney's most iconic LGBTIQ+ landmarks and historical memorials.

"From dancers onstage, to surprise acts around you, this will be a gay ol' feast for the eyes and ears," event organisers said.
