Amadou Onana has been speaking about Everton while on international duty with Belgium
Amadou Onana says his "goal" in summer was to stay at Everton for the whole season - but claims he does not "have a crystal ball" to predict how things will pan out.
But even only a year after signing, when summer 2023 rolled around there were rumours linking Onana away from Goodison Park. Manchester United and Chelsea were among the clubs said to be in the frame. Onana has been speaking to media while on international duty with Belgium. Asked about the feeling of linking up with his countrymen the midfielder made an honest admission about the "change in atmosphere".
"But I must admit that this change in atmosphere and finding a team with high quality players changes the mood. Mentally, it does me a lot of good."
