The once rising star in the Republican Party and former New York City mayor who was dubbed “America’s Mayor” after Sept. 11 was stripped of his license for his alleged role inGiuliani pleaded not guilty to the crimes but had his law license stripped away after a court found he repeatedly made false statements about Trump’s 2020 election loss.

Giuliani has already had his New York law license suspended for false statements he made after the election. He was the primary mouthpiece for Trump’s false claims of election fraud after the 2020 vote. He filed for bankruptcy late last year after he acknowledged severe financial strain exacerbated by his pursuit of Trump’s lies about the 2020 election and a jury’s verdict at the time requiring him to pay $148 million to two former Georgia election workers he defamed.

He listed nearly $153 million in existing or potential debts, including almost $1 million in state and federal tax liabilities, money he owes lawyers, and many millions of dollars in potential judgments in lawsuits against him.
