APA Group CEO Adam Watson says his company is convinced gas still has a “very long role” to play in the energy transition to renewables. “The pipeline business is still critical to the energy system,” he told Sky News Australia. “Again you can’t bring renewable power generation to market without gas. “If we want to accelerate the removal of coal, you need to ensure that you’re firming that renewable power generation with gas. “So if anything, we see more gas coming to market.”
