Armed police were called to two separate incidents in England on Monday and Tuesday, after reports of males brandishing weapons in populated areas. A man was seen waving a large knife from a window in Lewisham, south London, leading to a lockdown of the high street. In Sheffield, residents were evacuated from an apartment building following reports that a man inside possessed weapons.

Residents were evacuated from an apartment building in central Sheffield, England, on Tuesday after police received reports that a man inside the building was in possession of weapons. Roads surrounding the scene, including the Sheffield Parkway between Park Square roundabout and Derek Dooley Way, were expected to remain closed into Tuesday morning. Police were called to the property after 7pm on Monday, February 10, following reports that a man inside had weapons.

A Facebook post from the South Yorkshire Police stated, 'Those within the building where the property is have been evacuated and those within the neighbouring buildings have been asked to stay indoors while officers conduct their work.' Emergency services, including armed police, remained on the scene in the Castlegate area of the city throughout the night. Tram services in the area were also disrupted, with commuters advised to seek alternative routes. This incident follows another separate armed police response in Lewisham, south London, on Monday where a man was seen waving a large knife from a window. Images shared on social media showed a man wearing a dressing gown leaning out of an upstairs flat, brandishing a large knife. Other photographs depicted a police cordon surrounding shops opposite an HSBC branch on High Street. As a precaution, the HSBC branch across the street closed, and the bank confirmed that no customers or staff were involved in the incident. At least two officers in full protective gear, carrying large guns, were visible towards the entrance of the premises. Additional images showed at least six police vehicles and a fire engine parked along the street, situated between two cordons. Armed officers were observed advancing towards the building shortly after 8pm. Police stated they were called to a 'disturbance' at approximately 10:45am and remained on the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade
