A 33-year-old man was fatally shot while standing in the courtyard of his apartment complex in City Heights early Tuesday, San Diego police said. The shooting was reported just before 2:30 a.m. at a complex on 36th Street near Polk Avenue, said homicide Lt. Jud Campbell.
'The suspect then ran back to the alley and fled on foot.' The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name was not released pending notification of family. Detectives identified the suspect, Edgar Sanchez, 32, as being related to a resident at the complex, the lieutenant said. While detectives were still in the area investigating about 9 a.m., they saw Sanchez and arrested him. He was in possession of a gun at the time of his arrest, Campbell said.
