'Everybody is going to batter me!'
England kick-start their Euros campaign against Serbia Jeff Stelling says he expects ‘everybody to batter him’ after urging Gareth Southgate to drop Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka for England’s Euro 2024 opener. The Three Lions begin what they hope will be a triumphant Euros campaign against Serbia on Sunday night. Despite a shock and deflating 1-0 defeat to Iceland in their final warm-up game, much is expected of England as they attempt to win their first men’s major trophy since 1966.
‘This is just my thoughts but Serbia are the biggest and tallest team in the tournament,’ he told talkSPORT. ‘They are going to be physical and agresssive. ‘John Stones has picked up a knock, he’s wonderful on the ball but he’s not physical or aggressive. I worry about us aerially so I’m going for Lewis Dunk, he’s tall and dominates in the air. ‘That’s a back five of Pickford, Walker, Dunk, Guehi and Trippier.
