Villa are part-owned by American businessman Wes Edens, making them one of nine US-owned clubs in the Premier League.Wyness suggested he was shocked to see the Midlands giants shun a move to a NFL-style cap system.“When NFL owners put in the wage cap, the value of the franchises went through the roof.“I expected all the American owners at Villa, Liverpool, Arsenal and others to vote for it.“In the weeks ahead, we’re going to see a lot of debate about the thinking behind this.
“I did think this change would’ve been popular with the American owners, but it hasn’t been in Villa’s case.”
