Australia has appointed “former military man” Air Vice-Marshall Darren Goldie as Australia’s first national Cyber Security Coordinator, Sky News Senior Reporter Caroline Marcus says.
“The government says that’s because this is really more of a military – huge operation, and they
have to wargame with companies how to beat these cyber hackers,” Ms Marcus told Sky News host Erin Molan.

‘Good leadership’: Air Vice-Marshal appointed cybersecurity coordinatorAir Vice-Marshal Darren Goldie has been appointed as the inaugural National Cybersecurity Coordinator for his “good leadership” skills, according to Monash University's head of cybersecurity Professor Monica Whitty. “I can only guess the reason behind this is because they need good leadership in that role,” she told Sky News Australia. “So, my question, do you need a cybersecurity expert to lead it? I think you need someone that has good leadership and good listening skills. “He needs to be able to rally the troops to be able to act, coordinate together their responses to these attacks.”
