An award-winning West Midlands brewery, which went into voluntary liquidation last week with 'crippling' energy costs a factor in in its demise, has been bought by a brewing group.
An award-winning Black Country brewery, which went into voluntary liquidation last week with "crippling" energy costs a factor in in its demise, has been bought by a brewing group.Backyard Brewhouse, at The Gatehouse, Lichfield Road, Brownhills, entered liquidation on Thursday, March 2, with all staff having been made redundant over preceding weeks.Backyard Brewhouse was started by director Austen Morgan and Mike Bates in 2008.
"For the past 12 months I have remained with the business helping the new owners become familiar with the business, the broader trade and understanding the ins and outs of a cask ale brewery. "I would like to thank all those who have supported us over the last 15 years – suppliers and customers alike. Many of whom have become good friends of the brewery. It has been challenging at times but always immensely enjoyable."
