Two members of the curling community are up in arms over the announcement and have launched angry broadsides at their own sport’s governing body over the way the announcement was made.
An almighty row has broken out in the Ayrshire curling community following last night’s news that a new offer has been made to try and save Ayr Ice Rink from closure.

In a Facebook post, which she urged followers to share, she said: “I am one of two incoming presidents for the Ayr Curling Club, and I just found out about a deal via Facebook, that was made with the ice skaters, hockey players and the group of Glasgow curlers looking for a new home. “So since I guess this is how we communicate, here’s my reply to Scottish Curling: In future, I will never give one penny to your useless organisation.
"We encourage all parties to take a serious look at the offer proposed by the charitable trust and approach discussions in a constructive manner, which Scottish Curling have done to date."
