Ayr Eagles manager Ryan Frew has been flying the flag for the town of Waltrop as a heartfelt thanks to Teutonia Vikings
Ayr has formed an unlikely connection with a German town following the success of the Ava Bolton Cup.
We previously told how the Vikings joined a further nine teams of overweight footballers who play in a unique format of the beautiful game dubbed 'Football Fans in Training' or 'FFIT'. Ryan has now paid heartfelt thanks to the Germans who made the journey as he sends a postcard back to them. Ryan, 41, told Ayrshire Live: "It's still hard to believe what we were able to pull off, we've raised £11,000 which is just amazing.
Ryan has also told how a further £1,000 was plunged into the fundraising kitty by the Vikings sponsors after they read coverage of the tournament on Ayrshire Live.
