Ayrshire drug dealer William John Gibb has died in custody at HMP Kilmarnock while serving a sentence for supplying drugs.

William John Gibb, 55, from Ardrossan , had been serving a sentence for supplying drugs since December 2022 when he died in prison.A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held into Gibb’s death in due course.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “Every death, whether in prison custody or in our communities, is a tragedy for all those who knew and supported the individual. “Following the death of someone in our care, Police Scotland are advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
