Police confirmed a 17-year-old male youth was arrested in connection.
Balaclava-clad rivals clashed in a mass rammy in Paisley on Sunday as the new SPFL season got underway. Crowds of hooligans were seen brawling on the town's Ferguslie Park Avenue just metres away from SMiSA Stadium on August 4.
The violent clashes took place at full-time after St Mirren defeated Hibernian 3-0 in the Premiership. The shocking scenes were captured and uploaded on social media, showing scores of hooded and balaclava-clad supporters fighting with one another. Around 40 people were filmed taking part in the chaos as participants could be seen throwing punches and kicks at rival groups. Thugs could be seen running from across the road to launch their attacks as multiple fights took place. Bottles could also be seen getting launched into the air as police attempted to maintain order. In the footage, other peaceful fans could be seen watching on in horror as they tried to make their way home. Officers confirmed a 17-year-old male was charged in connection with the incident. There were no reported injuries. A Police Scotland statement reads: "Around 5pm on Sunday, 4 August 2024 a disturbance involving between 30 to 40 people occurred in Ferguslie Park Avenue, Paisley. There were no reports of anyone injured. "A 17-year-old male youth was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at court at a later date."
