Before the auction kicked off, Charlie caught up with James for his expert opinion on the piece. James scrutinised the item, noting: "Not a lot of age to it, it's got a decent hardwood stand and it's got a look." As the auction began, things looked bleak for Jean and Emma with the opening bid at just £35. The room's disinterest was palpable, and Jean leaned on Emma in disappointment, murmuring: "Oh Emma!"
The gavel finally fell at £60, marking a significant loss from their original £200 outlay. Jean and Emma could only offer a sheepish chuckle at their misfortune before moving on to see if their bonus buy could recoup some losses.
