Ferguson was afforded a painful front row view as gloating Hoops fans lapped up yet another derby win

Maybe it was because I was there to watch it with my own eyes, sitting in the directors’ box at Parkhead. Perhaps it was the joy on the faces of the Celtic fans when they were doing their wee huddle dance and laughing in my face when their team was 3-0 up. It was interesting, let’s just leave it at that.

All of a sudden they seemed to be spooked by the occasion and from that moment they didn’t make Celtic really have to work for the three points. And that’s the bit that really sticks in my throat. It’s funny but I saw the former referee Des Roache speaking after the game and he mentioned he was in charge of a game recently when Kenny Miller and I were playing for Rangers in the masters, which is basically a five-a-side tournament. I played a short pass into his feet but he went long and we nearly lost a goal with the last kick of the ball. I lost it, giving him both barrels.

For me, just losing a goal against Celtic felt like the end of the world. And it’s horrible. But you have to roll your sleeves up, puff your chest out and do something about it.
